How are events ranked?
Event rankings are based on the number of people who have added an event to their calendar, RSVP'd, or entered to win tickets. Events are also recommended by our local Tastemakers and Influencers from some of the Bay Area's best blogs, record labels, DJs, musicians, critics, and artists. Event rankings are updated in real time, so you can not only see every event based on their organic popularity, but also influence it!
Where do the event listings come from?
The events on DoTheBay come from all over the Internet including venue and artist websites, Facebook, Spotify, Google, etc. Not only do we collect events, but we also welcome users to add their own events. Simply put, we scour the internet every single day looking for the very best events coming to the Bay, so you don't have to.
Can I show my friends my recommendations?
Once you register, you'll have a profile page that shows all the events that you’ve added to your personal calendar. You can even share your custom calendar URL with your friends. Make your calendar your own by including a picture, links, and blurb about yourself.
Can I view events by type of event?
Yes! You can filter events by any number of categories like Music, Food/Drink, Comedy, The Arts, LGBTQ and more. To make your life even easier, we keep a list of our Top Picks where you can easily see all of the most popular upcoming events.
Can I view all events for a band or venue?
Yes again! Just click on the band or venue name to see a page of all upcoming shows, music, video, photos, and more.
Do people really win Tickets?
YES! We give away tickets every single week. Check out all of our current giveaways and enter to win some tickets! All winners receive a +1, unless otherwise noted. When you enter to win tickets, you will receive a notification email with a referral code that you can share with your friends to gain bonus entries! We typically notify all of our winners via email 2 - 3 days before each event. We also offer exclusive giveaways in our Top Picks Newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, so make sure to follow us across all of our channels.
What's a Tastemaker?
Tastemakers are what we call all of those people that make up the back bone of everything there is to do in this city. They are the local media, the bloggers, the DJ’s, the artists, and promoters that have made it their lives to get us off our couches and out on the town. They’re so good at it in fact, that we decided to highlight their recommendations on DoTheBay for you to follow. Tastemaker-recommended events are prominently featured across our event listings.
How do I add an event?
Self-Service Function: The best way to get your events consistently listed on DoTheBay is to add them yourself using our self service function. You can find a tutorial on creating your own DoTheBay by clicking the button below.
I’ve created an account — now what?
Send us a new email at
[email protected] to let us know the email address you used to create your account. We will then grant you editing privileges, so you can add your events anytime! Prior to us authorizing you as an event editor, you will not be allowed to post events to DoTheBay.
Can you help me get back into my account?
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it from the Sign In screen. Select “Sign In” from the upper right hand corner of the website then click “Forgot Your Password?” If that doesn’t work, you can email us at [email protected] and request a temporary password.
I'm a Publicist. Can Do The Bay Help Me do my Job?
Totally! We encourage all local publicists to create their own accounts with DoTheBay and keep us in mind when it comes to promoting events for their clients. Our website averages over 500K pageviews every month. Our highly engaged audience is constantly on the lookout for fun ways to spend their free time. By creating an account and consistently adding your events to our site, you will ensure that our loyal users know what you have to offer.
